Our History

CR Towing & Recovery is deeply rooted in the history of Joliet, Illinois, stretching back to 1927. It all began with Supreme Radiator & Body Company, founded by Morris Saper and Morris Weiner, who became pioneers in the local towing industry. Supreme wreckers were a familiar sight at accident scenes throughout Joliet, providing reliable service to the community and local law enforcement agencies, including the Joliet Police Department, Will County Sheriff's Office, and Illinois State Police.

Over the decades, the business flourished under the skillful guidance of the Scholar family, who took over in the 1950s. They continued to uphold Supreme's reputation for quality workmanship and exceptional service, repairing vehicles to the highest industry standards. Whether it was fender benders or more serious accidents, car owners throughout Joliet trusted Supreme to restore their vehicles. For nearly four decades, the Scholar family carried on this legacy of excellence.

In the early 1990s, Roger D'Orazio Jr., owner of Collision Revision Inc., acquired Supreme Radiator & Body Company. He wisely recognized the value of CR Towing's expertise and incorporated it into Collision Revision, revolutionizing the auto rebuilding industry.

Collision Revision introduced a "finished when promised" guarantee, setting new standards for customer satisfaction. They also significantly expanded the towing service, covering an expansive region encompassing the entire northern Illinois area and northwest Indiana.

Roger D'Orazio III, Roger Jr.'s son, stepped into the family business in the mid to late 2000s, continuing the tradition of innovation and customer-centric service. In December 2011, Richard Craven, longtime general manager of Collision Revision, made the pivotal decision to purchase the towing division from Collision Revision Inc. and the D'Orazio Family.

Rich committed to upholding the traditional values and service excellence that had defined Supreme Radiator & Body Company and CR Towing for generations. He ensured that CR towing remained a family-owned business and continued its strong affiliation with Teamsters Union Local 179. By employing drivers who operate under the Local 179 banner, each with over 125 combined years of experience, Rich has maintained the high standards of professionalism and expertise that CR Towing is known for.
